But for things like gas detection, torque, or flow? Typical options available in remote locations are sensors that measure data, and perhaps store the same in situ.

Without wireless capabilities, your team still has to go out to these remote locations and gather all of the data. And when remote locations are tough to reach, it means you’re still only getting the data you need intermittently.

That is, until recently.

Here at Hiber, we have technology that can help. It’s called HiberHilo, and it can include a wired-to-wireless (W2W) converter. This converter helps you get all kinds of data from the field, no matter how remote.

What is the HiberHilo wired-to-wireless converter?

The HiberHilo wired-to-wireless (W2W) converter is pretty straightforward. It takes the analogue signals captured by your flow meter (the analogue data is what we refer to as “wired” signals) and converts them to wireless LoRaWAN® signals.

Once converted, that data can be sent to our gateways and transmitted to your online dashboard via secure satellite connection. So you can see the data in near-real-time, instead of every few weeks.

The W2W converter is pretty amazing. You can retrofit it onto any of the typical hardwired sensors you already have out in the field. And then get almost instantaneous access to the data you previously had to collect manually. Just log into the monitoring system, and you’ll see flow, torque, and anything else you want to monitor on your screen. For any well or pipeline. Anywhere in the world.

What are the specs of the HiberHilo W2W converter?

HiberHilo’s W2W converter is ATEX Zone 1 certified, so it can be safely installed in explosive zones. Additionally, the W2W converter comes in three different materials: SS316, aluminum, or plastic. You can choose the material that makes the most sense for your use case. The converter is either IP55, IP66, or IP68 certified, each of which covers different use cases or environments around the world.

The wireless connection of the W2W convertors uses LoRaWAN® Class A, which can cover different frequencies around the world. The data sampling frequency can be as low as every 10 minutes, but the default is every 30 minutes. The gateway-to-satellite data sampling frequency is set to a default of every 15 minutes, so you’ll be able to see the flow status every quarter hour.

What’s most impressive about the W2W convertors is that they can operate for up to 8 years on battery power and can take up to 3 analogue inputs at the same time. This means that you can measure multiple parameters, such as flow, vibration, and more, all with one device, from any remote location.

Get flow data from any well or pipeline, anywhere.

HiberHilo’s W2W converter means you don’t have to wait for the sensor market to evolve to start getting flow data from your remote locations. It lets you quickly transform your existing sensors, because it’s really easy to retrofit onto an existing setup. Or, you can adapt new sensors so they’re instantly wireless.

And with HiberHilo, you can access that data from any well or pipeline, anywhere in the world, all for an affordable price.

If you want to collect data from remote wells or pipelines, you’re somewhat limited on what’s possible in terms of how to get the data back to the end user for analysis. Sure, there are plenty of ready-to-install wireless sensors available for pressure, temperature and vibration measurement.
